Note: There are three variations for M1 Carbine sight placements, the USGI, the Universal, and the Iver Johnson. Some Iver Johnson models place the sights in different locations. Please check the images to compare where your sights are placed to select the correct tool. Universal is a model, it does not mean it can be used on every M1 Carbine. If your front sight has a set screw, it is most likely a Universal M1 Carbine.
